Your wedding day is undoubtedly one of the most important and cherished moments of your life. It’s a celebration of love, unity, and the beginning of a beautiful journey with your partner.
I have had the honor of witnessing countless couples bask in the joy and euphoria of their special day. Amidst all the excitement and flurry of emotions, I’ve often been asked whether hiring a wedding videographer is worth it. In this blog post, I will share my insights on the undeniable importance of having a videographer to capture the magic of your wedding day. This question comes up during the planning process for many of our couples. My reply is always, “YES!”
Trust me, I speak from experience. When my husband and I married 15 years ago, we opted to do photography only and felt we did not need any additional documentary services for our wedding day. We were sure our guests would capture those special moments on video for us. Every year when we celebrate our anniversary, we both experience that feeling of regret. There are special moments we try to remember, but wish we had video evidence to see our day unfold on film.
While it’s too late for us to preserve those precious memories, it’s not for you!
Wouldn’t you like to watch footage of yourself getting ready with your wedding party or the moment you walk down the aisle evoking feelings of pure joy? What about the heartfelt speeches from your loved ones, special dances, and the cake-cutting moments that look fantastic on video?
Still not sure? Here are more great reasons to capture your best day ever on film.
Moments You Don’t See
On your wedding day, there are numerous events and interactions happening simultaneously, and it’s impossible for the couple to witness everything, and those unseen moments are equally important in your wedding day story. A large part of your day is spent prepping for your anticipated walk down the aisle, and typically our couples and their parties are getting ready separately. Wouldn’t it be amazing to capture interactions with the wedding party and any pre-wedding jitters?
What about those unscripted moments, like a sudden burst of laughter or your Nan’s show-stopping dance routine? While the ceremony and reception are planned, there are always unexpected and spontaneous moments that happen organically. Videography will capture those intimate and authentic moments, creating a comprehensive story of your entire wedding experience.
Shared Moments
A wedding video not only becomes a treasured keepsake for the couple but also a means of sharing their special day with friends and family. It allows loved ones who couldn’t attend the wedding to witness these heartfelt moments and be a part of the celebration in their own way.
Memories Fade
As time passes, our memories fade, and those precious moments and small details can become a little hazy. Wedding videography will help to trigger your memory, so you can vividly relive the experience, almost as if you were transported back in time. I don’t know about you, but I would LOVE to relive the moment I said “I Do” with my best friend and life partner.
Raw Emotions
There is something video can capture that photography can’t, and that’s emotions in motion. The joyful smiles, teary eyes, and tender expressions are some of the beauties preserved through video. Imagine hearing the voices of loved ones that may no longer be with you. The words spoken, the laughter, and the songs played can all live on. With everyone gathered at your wedding, your video is the most modern version of a family tree you can have, and it will be important for you to have as well to share with future generations.
Anniversary Celebrations
Every year when your wedding anniversary rolls around, you can light some candles, pop a little champagne, and snuggle on the sofa to relive the memories of becoming one.
In conclusion, not hiring a wedding videographer is one of the most common regrets couples express after they are married. The decision not to get the extra tier on the wedding cake or adding more florals on your guest tables will quickly fade. But that missing video footage regret will linger for years to come. For me, it’s almost enough to make a girl want to renew her vows and get married all over again!
As a wedding planner, I can tell you firsthand that hiring a professional videographer is a worthy investment to preserve those beautiful moments forever etched in your heart.
