Beaming with love and adoration for one another and all things black for their upcoming union, our couple, Eva and Nairobi, envisioned an elevated night of luxury for their wedding. A night where black love and black excellence would be celebrated, the “Black Experience.”
With a color palette of black, ivory, and silver accents, their theme, The Black Affair: An Evening of Love, highlighted all things black with soft yet soulful elegance.
Nestled in the heart of East Baltimore, The Sinclair was the perfect canvas upon which to execute the couple’s vision. While the exterior of the building matched the black and ivory color scheme, the interior provided three separate spaces with soaring, industrial ceilings and open, airy space that created the perfect backdrop for Eva & Nairobi’s wedding.
Upon entering the venue, guests were greeted with a beautiful black and white welcome sign that displayed the couple’s name, wedding theme, and date of ceremony atop a burnished black easel. The entryways and corners were adorned in a bed of white ranunculus with white roses bursting from silver accent pieces. And the ceilings were draped with plush, hanging green and white florals.
The ceremony space was exquisitely designed with 360 seating that included black Chiavari chairs, ensuring that Eva & Nairobi were the focal point of their special day. Centered atop a round, white platform cloaked in lush white and ivory florals and trios of pillar candles, the couple had everything they needed to declare their love and devotion to one another, surrounded by an endless circle of family and friends.
Nairobi entered the ceremony space to Still by Mali Music and patiently awaited her bride. As soon as Fall for You by Leela James began to play, Eva entered the room, and Nairobi was overcome with emotion that left everyone in tears. Easily one of our favorite moments because it hinges upon the power of connection, love, and friendship that everyone in attendance had front-row seats to before they ever had the honor of saying “I do.”
Following the ceremony, guests were invited to partake in a “black mixer” that featured high-top tables covered in floor-length black shantung linens complete with flameless votives and floral accents.
After the mixer, it was an all-out party. From the time the couple entered the reception area to All I Need by Mary J Blige and Method Man until their final send-off, everyone in the room had smiles plastered across their faces as they swag surfed and danced to their hearts’ content.
Lovingly dubbed the “Joe Clark” of weddings by the happy couple, lead planner and owner of Black Orchid Events, Teejah Fitchette’s trusty clipboard, attention to detail, and no holds barred approach kept everything running smoothly. More importantly, it provided peaceful comfort that allowed Eva & Nairobi to soak up every moment.
A special thank you to a phenomenal roster of minority-owned wedding vendors who helped to make this Black Affair one to remember.
